Bujumbura, Burundi – The Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Researches, Mrs. Janvière Ndirahisha said some irregularities are noticeable in some universities. The Minister specifically listed irregularities such as failure to respect the conditions of admission for new students in different courses, the lack of data on students and on qualification and status of teaching staff, non-compliance with the school calendar and so forth.

Mrs. Janvière Ndirahisha gave these remarks during a workshop with partners of higher education this Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018. She finally insisted that her ministry will no longer allow evening courses for civil servants and all those employed in private sector since most of them don`t attend classes regularly. According to the minister, this practice could lead unemployed students to register for evening courses for the same purpose, which contributes to a poor-quality education.
