Burundi, Bujumbura – The World Post Day, October 9, was celebrated today October 12, 2017, in Burundi.
During the celebrations, Benjamin NIYOKINDI, General Director of the Posts, indicated that post services have already taken a step forward and are at a good level now. He added that there are post offices in all provinces of the country and stressed that Burundi Posts is the member of the association of 192 posts services worldwide. He finally reminded that Burundi Posts have started to offer commercial and informatics services.
For Laurent KAGANDA, Deputy Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, there is a significant progress in the services offered by the Posts.
He also stated that the Ministry of posts and telecommunications is planning to reduce the rate on inbound calls for international callers, set up a money transfer system via mobile phones for those who live abroad, and export food products.
The Burundi Postal Administration was created in 1991 and started its operations on January 1, 1992.
