Burundi, Bujumbura – One person died, two others were wounded on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in the borough of Buyenzi in Mukaza district of Bujumbura city.
According to information collected from Buyenzi residents, it was around 8 pm when a loud explosion of a grenade was heard in the direction of the 7th Ave. This explosion was from a grenade that was thrown in a bistro located at 7th Ave. #50 in the Buyenzi district.
The Police, through its spokesman Pierre NKURIKIYE, confirmed this act that qualified as terrorist as well as the number of victims. Pierre Nkurikiye also reported that investigations are already under way to identify and apprehend perpetrators who until now remain unknown and at large.
A wave of grenade throwing has been noticed in different districts of the Burundian capital recently. The most recent case occurred in the borough of Bwiza where 11 were wounded.
